Atlanta, GA. I recently attended a seminar 01/25/18 that's offering DOULA classes along with training and certifications for black women who want to become DOULAS (we need more black women). The lack of knowledge, proaction, and support in our community is so sad. so many mothers are not getting the proper care they are needing before, during, and after care (postpartum). We are dying not only because of the lack of care and insurance, but the lack of communication between mothers and doctors not listening to the new mothers afterwards. Birthing while black is four times more risky than for white parents. maternal death rate. As a women's health advocate and soon to be DOULA I'm aiming for a way to give mothers the birth experience they deserve.
